Christmas Cards 2011. Belated.

I realize that it is February. However, I also realize that I never posted our Christmas cards here for you, Internet, to see.

We did, in fact, create two Christmas cards this year. The first was designed by my amazingly talented sister who, after two or three years of pleading, finally started her business. When she first showed me this design, I knew it was what I wanted to use. I especially love the green and grey!

We also had a card created by the ever-fab Grammarcy here in Columbus. Brett and I began planning it further in advance than any two people should probably ever think about Christmas cards. So worth it.

Thanks to these two cards, we have a goal to beat for next year’s cards. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t already planning them…in February.

Whitis.

After almost two months of a winter break full of holiday eating, relaxing, and settling into my full-time job (which I absolutely love), I was itching to shoot again. My camera hadn’t been touched in way to long, and my creative juices were needing me to be behind the lens. With a moment’s hesitation, I called my sweet friend Brooke and forced politely asked her if her family would save the day. Thankfully she agreed, even though she already has a family shoot booked with the ever-so-talented Jenna Allen; Jenna was even so sweet as to be my sidekick for the shoot, which included making Finn giggle when I just couldn’t do it. Two days later (yes, two – I don’t waste time) we were in one of my favorite new secret locations that I have had my eye on for over 2 years. It turned out to give me the exact yummy light I was hoping for, and the Whitis’ turned out to be the perfect little family to get my creative juices flowing.

I also need to make two last points before I show you these:

  • 1 – Brooke is not only a sweet friend, but also a wonderful photographer. Her newborn photographs make me melt.
  • 2 – I just feel like I also need to mention a mutual friend and Brooke’s official photographer, Jessica Flynn. Also amazing. Uh-may-zing. She moved to Texas, and we all miss her a lot so this session was in hopes that we could stop mourning our loss. Love and miss you, Jess! (If you want to see more of Brooke & Brandon shot by Jess, hop on over to her blog and check them out here and here. And tell all of your Texas friends about her.)

    2011.

2011 was the year of a rollercoaster when it comes to photography in my life. After dreaming for 2.5 years what it would be like to run a full-time photography business and arguing with God about it the whole way through, I finally gave up any reigns I thought I had. Within just a few months, I was offered a full-time job with a company here in Columbus. As a complete understatement, I love it. Even more I love seeing the fruit that has come from being obedient to Christ.

Last night I began to look through my sessions from 2011, a year that will always be imprinted in me. I am truly joyful for every single moment in it and for the moments I was able to capture. I thought I would post my favorites from the year – if not for anyone else, just for me.
